Shipping:

How long will it take to receive my order?
Most reproductions will ship within a few days to 3 weeks since our items are made to order and hand cast. Please open and inspect items within 48 hours of delivery to check for damage in transportation. Further information about what to do when a piece is damaged in transportation is below under “What if a cast gets damaged in shipment?”

Do your prices include shipping?
Shipping costs are not included in the price of the item. Packing and insurance are included in the price of the item. Customers in the contiguous United States receive free ground shipping automatically at checkout, and customers located elsewhere can find shipping options in the checkout process. For international shipping, please see below.

How is shipping calculated?
Shipping is automatically calculated at checkout. For customers outside the contiguous United States, an item with a package weight over around 150 pounds will not populate a shipping rate. In this case please contact us for a quote. If ordering by phone or fax we will calculate the shipping.

Can you ship to a PO Box?
Since we only ship via FedEx, your shipping address cannot include a PO Box.

What shipping services are available for U.S. shipments?
We ship items via FedEx Ground for commercial destinations and FedEx Home Delivery for residential destinations. These services are not express shipping. If you think you might require express services after the fabrication time (within a few days to 3 weeks), please contact us to receive a quote and to make your purchase.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, the Caproni Collection uses FedEx to ship internationally. Shipping options can be found in the checkout process. Please note that International Shipping estimates may not be 100% accurate and may be subject to a shipping surcharge. Please contact us for a more accurate estimate. Please note that all duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.

What if a cast gets damaged in shipment?
Items must be opened and inspected within 48 hours of delivery to report any damage. Although we ship our casts with great care, on the extremely rare occasion that one arrives damaged, we would provide a replacement upon return of the damaged cast and issue a claim to FedEx. FedEx will usually pick up the damaged cast from you in order to examine the damage and return it to us. Please save all original packaging for inspection.

Can I pick up my order?
Yes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, curbside pickup is available for local customers. Choose this option at checkout.

Materials and Quality:

What materials are your products made from?
Most of our reproductions are cast in plaster. A few of our reproductions are hand cast in urethane resin if additional strength is needed. The plaster reproductions are hand cast and reinforced with burlap, glass fiber and/or metal rods for extra strength. Plaster is only suitable for indoor display, but some of the pieces in our catalog can be cast in an alternative material which can be used for outdoor display. Please contact us if you would like specific information on a particular piece. We make all of our products onsite and use American-made materials.

What finish/patina is shown on the items in the photos on your website?
Some items are shown in our offered patinas, some photos are black and white, and other photos are of antique casts. If you’re curious about a particular finish/patina, feel free to contact us.

What finish/patina is recommended for casts that will be used for artists’ studies?
We recommend the Flat White finish for this purpose. The Flat White allows the true form of the object to be seen the most clearly without additional coloration that might make it more difficult for that purpose.

Why are there visible seams on some of the castings and not others?
The original plaster castings by P.P. Caproni and Brother were made with multi-piece plaster molds from the original sculptures which created the seam lines. The newer, flexible silicone mold material we use to make new molds from old casts do not create these seam lines unless the lines are already in the antique cast. We leave them showing for historic reasons and to show the accuracy of our casts compared to original Caproni plaster casts.

How close are your reproductions to the original sculptures they are copied from?
The Caproni Collection uses many of the original castings by P.P. Caproni and Brother made over 100 years ago to create accurate, first generation copies. We use the same old-world tradition of plaster casting, and every replica is a true work of art. Our mission is to preserve and continue the important traditions passed down from the Caproni brothers. Robert Shure, a renowned sculptor in his own right, and Kathleen Shure have been the owners of the Caproni Collection (formerly the Giust Gallery) since 1992. Read more on the About and History pages.

Display and Maintenance:

Does the piece I'm interested in come with a display hook?
Small and large reliefs and masks come with at least one embedded hook for hanging unless otherwise noted. For all other pieces, like anatomical casts, refer to the product pages.

Can your casts be displayed outdoors?
Although plaster is not suitable for outdoor use, some of the pieces in our catalog can be cast in an alternative material which can be used for outdoor display. Please contact us if you would like specific information on a particular piece.

How do I clean and maintain my cast?
If possible, store in a clean, dry location away from dust to preserve your piece. However, if the piece becomes dirty from dust or other debris you can clean it with a very soft dusting cloth. Gum erasers may also be used if needed.

Caproni Collection History and News:

Where can I learn about the Caproni Collection and its history?
You can read about us on the About and History pages and in some of our blog posts.

Why were you called the “Giust Gallery” for several decades?
In the 1960s, Lino Giust purchased the Caproni collection and renamed the company. His successors, and current owners, Robert and Kathleen Shure, retained this name until early 2019 when they changed the name to reflect its historical roots.

Can you identify an antique Caproni cast I own?
Yes. If you have an antique plaster cast with a metal hallmark or stamp (see some examples here), you can contact us for information and an estimation of when the cast was created.

How do I read news and updates about the Caproni Collection?
You can find us on FacebookInstagramTwitter, and Pinterest. You can also visit our blog and sign up for our newsletter.
